You may or may not know that Leave Me Alone's co-founders, Danielle and James, are full-time digital nomads—or even better, 'Sailmads'—working from their 36ft sailboat Nayru since May 2022.

Coders by day, they are at the very start of fulfilling their dream of sailing the world. After sailing across the Mediterranean over the last year, they are about to embark on their biggest sailing challenge to date - The Atlantic Crossing.

In December, they will set sail from the island of Gran Canaria, part of the Canary Islands, to make their way to the warmer waters of the Caribbean. They will stop off on the Cape Verde islands after the first 850 nautical miles to restock, refuel and stretch their legs before heading out on the 2200 nm passage to Antigua.

Having lived on the ocean for over 18 months now, the co-founders have been exposed first-hand to the disastrous impact of ocean plastic and pollution.

For this reason, the Leave Me Alone team are delighted to share that for the full duration of time it takes for our co-founders to battle their way across this particular ocean, we will be donating ALL profits from Leave Me Alone to The Ocean Clean Up.

The Ocean Clean Up is a non-profit organization developing and scaling technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. They are working to intercept plastic in rivers before it reaches the ocean as well as remove the plastic that is already out there - debris that has been building up for decades. The Ocean Clean Up team is working towards a goal of 90% reduction of floating ocean plastic by 2040. The crew aboard Nayru want to do everything they can to support this incredibly important mission.

“I love the idea that while we’re at sea, we’re able to support the projects in place to help clean it up.” James, Co-founder of Leave Me Alone.

Yes, that means the longer it takes for their crossing, the more we’ll be donating to The Ocean Clean Up. Being stuck in the doldrums might not be all bad for this sailing adventure hey?

Find out more about how and why Danielle and James started Leave Me Alone and their journey since then.  And don't worry, while they're in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, the rest of the Leave Me Alone team will be beavering away on land able to answer any of your queries.
